Will do. I don't mind the vocals too much on RTL (and they dont sound too noticably different from MOP to my ears), but the overall production is pretty bad. It sorta fits the album cover in a way though. It sounds tinny, cold and blue (if that makes sense).

I saw them do the entire RTL album (they played it backwards) in 2012 at their Orion Festival. Only time Escape has ever been performed live. Was pretty cool.

I remember getting RTL at age 15, it was the most badass thing I ever heard

it were the days of going to your local record store on your bike. Putting it in my backpack felt like carrying contraband.

I remember letting it hear to my friend who only knew justice for all, and he was blown away. so in turn that made me look cool for coming up with the thing

I find Justice overrated. It's still good, but I hate the mixing. Blackened is good, Obviously One, and Frayed ends...and Dyers...ok so I guess really I just don't like Harvester or Beholder, the rest of the album is awesome.

The guitar tone tho

I genuinely feel like the lack of bass was them bullshitting themselves into a perfect sound that nobody has ever replicated since

For the remaster I agree. It sounds incredible. The original sounded a bit shit. Kinda flat. But the remaster gave it some oomph and made that accidentally perfect guitar and drum sound shine.

Justice is tied with Load for my favorite. Its musically their best thrash album. The guitars and drums are LOUD and sound almost mechanical but in a good way. Blackened, And Justice For All, Frayed Ends of Sanity and Dyers Eve are all top tier Metallica tracks.

Edit: One, Shortest Straw and To Live Is To Die are also awesome. You know it's a great album when Harvester of Sorrow and Eye of the Beholder are the worst tracks.

justice and rtl are my two favorites.

rtl will always be linked to the day i first bought a penthouse magazine, and flipping through the pages in an abandoned soccer building.

a very hot blonde with big tits, ill never forget it. my scummy friend bought the last playboy with erika eleniak in her sailor outfit, so i had to go with the penthouse

we were discovered by an old farmer who inspected our backpacks and found the magazines and metallica album. he thought we were the bandits who started a fire there the last week

then he gave a lecture about the magazines

while my mate was doing the talking, i sneeked out and made my way back home

then, when i got home, i heard rtl for the first time

it was one of those days, you look back on, and they encapsulate everything that made your teenage years great

Crazy how real this sounds. That "SPIT IT OUT" right before the solo made me feel like I was listening to an actual Justice era demo.

The farmer was trying to make you feel guilty so you would give him the magizines. Only for him once you boys left he would rub one out later when he got to the Erika eleniak photo.

Reload boxset came out the other day. And the CDs are available on Spotify.

Some really interesting shows on there. Maybe the coolest batch so far. I only sampled it driving home on Friday night. But there are really good choices and awesome setlists. Theres a club gig. An acoustic Bridge School Benefit show. A live radio set with special guests - its the same one their Tuesdays Gone cover comes from on Garage Inc. All kinds of shit.

The actual remaster of the album doesnt excite me much since Bob Rock produced Metallica already sounds perfect sonically (minus St Anger). I think Fixxxer is a top 5 Metallica song.
