I know you're a big fan of this album, but IMO it really doesn't suit Paul at all.

They're good, well performed songs etc etc, but I just can't buy into "depressed" Paul.

It suits Gene a lot better, Childhood's End is a real ear worm (if a bit repetitive)

I agree. Paul has a way of glomming onto a genre and crafting a solid song. Many times it comes across soulless.

This album is much more suited for Gene, especially that era of Gene. It fit the image he was projecting coming off of the Revenge album

Ha, I've never heard that before.

Dumb as a rock, but I love it. There's something about Ace's voice  that is irresistible, doubly so his guitar playing.

Have you heard his Origins covers albums? Some good stuff on there. I love his take on Parasite

I have heard Parasite (with John 5) but not the rest of the album.

It is indeed fantastic.

Loved the Charisma performance by Gene's band.

The VV Invasion stuff is probably the most "80's hair metal" band/s I've ever heard. The vocals on both albums are insane.

I used to read about them a lot in Metal Edge, but I don't think I've ever heard Slaughter

This album was garbage. Embarrassing.

Having said that, it probably warrants a second listen. At this late stage of my life, I like going back and rediscovering music. I haven't heard this album since it came out.

I have a soft spot for Unmasked. I got it when I was 6 years old and listened to it constantly. My favorite song from the album...

Unmasked is good, different, but good.

It was huge in Australia as a result of the song Shandi, but i really like Anton Figs drumming on the album and the songs are good except the last one. I think its a very underrated album.

Apparently during this phase the band were touring Europe alot because of the lack of success in the states. I think in terms of their popularity in the states it was probably due to oversaturation because the KISS merch by 79 was getting ridiculous (KISS lunchboxes).

I had one of those.

Most pathetic lunchbox I saw at school back in the day was Partridge Family.

They had lunchboxes for everything back then.
When merch was really taking off!.

The KISS merch range was even making Ace feel embarrassed according to his autobiography.
