The very first vinyl I ever bought was a Death Magnetic I got signed by all members. Was a part of their fan club and entered a raffle for a meet and greet at MSG 2009 and I got really lucky and won the raffle which only like 12 people won and this particular show had more fan club members going to it than any other that year from all over the world.
You can briefly see 14 year old shithead me meeting Kirk at 1:38 and standing in the back while the guy next to me talk to James. Two items signed and a photo with each member. Rob, Kirk and James all came out one after another but Lars made us wait. Wasn’t really that exciting and never cared about meeting a musician or any other famous person after this. Lars oozed douchiness. But now I have a vinyl and a shirt to sell if I ever get desperate for drug money.
Edit: also the reason I got DM vinyl and shirt signed and not a classic is because that was the only album Rob played on at the time and I’d rather have an album with all four signatures than one missing Cliff or Jason.
I saw some shit about how zoomers who only know about Metallica because of Stranger Things are trying to cancel them because of the most minor irrelevant shit from decades ago.
