The Vidya Game Thread

How far are you? It starts very slowly.

But half of the fun is collecting herbs and skinning animals and stuff like that.

Not very far at all. I just played a bit last night. I followed a cop to go kill some guys. Completed the task. Then I went wandering around and randomly got murdered out of nowhere. Then I woke up in my bed all the way back in the first ranch. I have no idea if I need to redo everything since my last save. I got into a bet with a guy that I couldnt kill 3 birds in a time limit but I fucked it up and lost all my cash. I definitely need to find my glasses cuz I'm struggling to read the text of the instructions and prompts. And I'm playing on a 55 inch TV not far from the screen. Maybe I will enjoy more when I'm not squinting and shutting one eye to read things. At one point I tried to save a guy getting attacked by dogs and I must have accidently shot him.

Idk, just endlessly pressing a button and watching the same animation doesnt seem very fun. Maybe I just have fallen victim to tik tok brain (I don't even use tik tok but you know what I mean) and have lost the ability to slow down and enjoy games like this.

I do remember watching my friends dad playing it in their living room back when it first came out and finding it interesting to watch. But right now I don't feel like a cowboy. Yesterday I felt like Batman.

If you keep playing you’ll feel more like Clint Eastwood but definitely less intense than Batman

Im also a completionist autist. I dont play many games but when I do get into a game I 100% (or more) it. That seems overwhelming atm with this game. I've never really played an open world game before. Closest to that was Halo Infinite and apparently that's not even very big (it seemed huge to me).

What about those Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor games? They look kinda cool.

I loved 100%ing RDR1. Give it some more time.

Star Wars games are shit.

Are all the Witcher games like 3?
It's so easy to play.
I’ve only played Witcher 3 but the general reputation is:

Witcher 1 - Buggy mess that showed a lot of promise

Witcher 2 - Good game that makes good on the promise of W1

Witcher 3 - Masterpiece but was incredibly buggy at launch

I played again for an hour last night and did enjoy it more. I think I may get into it fully when I find my damn glasses. Am I stupid or you can't zoom in while shooting in this game? I can't see shit.

Those particular Star Wars games have good reviews and I've seen people say they're good. I know there are other recent Star Wars games people hated, but these ones seem ok, no? The only Star Wars games I played was the OG Battlefront 2 and Lego Star Wars back in the day (great games).

Roughly 30% or so into the game you unlock the ability to use bullet time which is called Dead Eye in RDR. Normal zoom is just L2 or LT or whatever they call it on Xbox

They’re just EA making clones of Dark Souls so the entire game is just parry/dodge and attack repeated for 25 hours. I liked the first couple hours but it goes down hill fast and then they have to force OT trilogy stuff into it because that’s the only stuff normies actually like

The lead character is a gay ginger and he has a Bankerish sidekick and strong black badass chick played by Debra Wilson.

but at the end of the day I just hated all the backtracking and got bored with it

I started playing Red Dead Revolver before I go back and finish Red Dead Redemption. I dont think Revolver is particularly good game. But I wanna beat it and move on. Did Normal and Hard mode but has anyone here ever beaten it on Super Hard mode? I'm stuck on the 3rd to last level where you have to defend Jack as he picks a lock while an endless onslaught of enemies including several bosses shoot at him from every angle. Is this even possible without cheats?

Red Dead Revolver was a old ps2 game kind of unfair to do playthrough decades later. The same would apply to gta 3 and gta vice city.

I would still, and do still, pick up San Andreas and have a fucking blast. Game is a goddamned masterpiece. I run my games off of a hard drive on my PS2 with component cables and optical out. I am The Omega of PS2 playing.

There are old PS2 games (or even PS1 games) I can still enjoy today. I kind of prefer the simplicity of older games in a lot of ways. Especially when it comes to art style. A lot of modern games all look the same because they want to be realistic. Older games couldn't look realistic so they compensated by creating a unique art style and design for their worlds.

Halo 2 came out the same year as this game and it still feels buttery smooth gameplay wise. This game is OK, but the controls aren't responsive. Level design ain't great. But it has its charms. This fucking level is insanely difficult but I watched some guy do a speedup to see what his technique is (even he died several times) and I am getting better.

Fair enough. I would suggest to you to play the metal gear series.

Don't play the game the game that came out after phantom pain. But it's a amazing gaming series with the best storytelling in my opinion in video games not including rdr 2 which is the best game of all time in my opinion.

Maybe I'll check it out once I finish Red Dead series. I'm a completionist OCD autist so thats probably gonna take a while.
