if Evader is correct about the lyrics, a doll of a child chained to a bed

I still have a funny feeling that the song fans have been listening to about child abuse isn't The General...it's Soul Monster.

Yeah I know Axl said we've heard parts of it before in concert and the other assorted tidbits.

What song title is likely to deal with such a dark subject...The General or Soul Monster/Leave Me Alone?

Did he stop focusing on Slash and Steph long enough to write two songs about child abuse? :Classic_Troll:

The child abuse comment goes back to Rock In Rio 2001 poolside chats. Some guy dug up the quote awhile ago and it even mentioned that PRL title for CD2.

In my book CD was supposed to be some epic comment on how the world really works and Axl being disillusioned about it. He was too paranoid and probably didn't have enough talent to pull it off but that's my read.

Good old Saint Axl ranting against child abuse. How's Michelle doing?

It's about as reasonable as never getting over Seymour. "Waaaahhhhh, I raped and beat the shit out of her, she doesn't know how good she had it. Now I'm sad".

Fuck him.

Yeah Soul Monster does fit the title more. I wouldn’t be shocked if The General lyrics are odd tho considering how the song got its name

How many more days must I go hungry?

Mine too.

It's why it took years to come up with lyrics for the second batch of songs. By the time he finally gets around to doing that, he starts losing interest in the project.

It also explains why he never went back to songs like Perhaps and God knows what else, and why all the songs contained the original vocal takes.

Look at Absurd for fucks sake. In those chats, he mentioned he added a new chorus. Fans went ape shit thinking he transformed and vastly improved the song.

The new chorus:

Absurd!!!!

1 verse 1 chorus will probably be the pattern of the remaining songs.

I still get a laugh at this.

The title to the follow-up was right under our noses for 15 years but thanks to a shit translation, no one saw it until the original article was looked over again.

Shows how much he cared about it. Its title was never mentioned again until some hoarder started that Legend of the Red Panda shit, which most thought was a troll of the fan base.

I thought he said the Silkworms chorus was gone and OMG was the one that supposedly had some new vocals? I could be mistaken though. He then said OMG wasn't taken seriously, but it ended up on the CD2 email and was rehearsed by the Ashba lineup... seems like he never knew wtf he wanted to do, and still doesn't.

At least we know Atlas has more than one verse, even though (like Hardschool) most of the song is quite repetitive. I'm guessing The General will be similar - technically there's more than 1 verse but still a lot of repeated parts. At this point I don't care, I just want to finally hear it, gravy-coated noodles and all.

State Of Grace is so weird when you look at the other leftovers... completed, non-repetitive lyrics, completed song structure, good vocals, but it was never even mentioned. When the early descriptions of CD mentioned songs 'sounding like GNR produced by Trent Reznor' or whatever were published in 99 or so, that's basically State Of Grace. So it was probably abandoned quite early in the CD sessions.

And never forget that Geffen Records ,

used Ax's hiding out in Hollywood cuz of the RAPE Charge

for early promotion of the AFD album.

( the  New "Bad Boys" of Rock 🤔)

and the story of "Out Ta Get Me" if I remember correctly.

Heroin Addiction was also aplauded, as was living off exotic dancers, and other loose females,  spending your last few dollars on cheap alcohol , and bands living in small windowless rehearsal studios,

where woman,

and even young girls can be robbed of any cash they have in their purse, and also taken advantage of sexually, N' discarded at will (even naked in middle of the night) with no real repercussions. ....

Rape, Booze, Addiction,,

and just generally taking advantage of any and all females,

is Appetite For Destruction in a Nutshell

Take a listen to the Bumblefoot version of Silkworms that leaked in 2013

The Absurd chorus is already in place

And although Slash did it better,

most of idea of how Slash rearranged the song was also in place

The biggest difference is Bumblefoot left all synths in place where the newer recordings delete it all.

Interestingly the Timing Error on first verses vocals seems to originate with the Bumblefoot version,

and was carried over to the Absurd recording .

I just think SOG is like the alternative twin sister of IRS.

A lot of the CD songs have doppelgängers

Chi Dem...HS

Shackler's...Absurd

Catcher...Perhaps

If it was too Alt it wasn't GNR, if it was too rock it wasn't Alt enough.

Axl doesn't like to release unheard music.

So why release the general instead of Atlas.

Because we've already heard it.

It's state of grace.

There was a clip on YouTube

Someone took The General cell phone recording and matched it up with a random beat Shit Frank played at sound check

Some unknown variables,.

And yet still..

It was very similar sounding to the Stare of Grace beat, and the timing was also similar

It may be true that State of Grace is part of,

or became The General.

Or it could just use a similar  beat, idk lol

If The General was the cellphone leak, then we already heard it. So it fits that prototype of the band releasing songs that already have been leaked.

If you look at the final tracklist to Chinese Democracy, along with anything else that leaked that wasn't on CD, like Going Down - almost everything we have heard from the Chinese Era was part of the Village Sessions leak. Off the top of my head, I think it was only Scraped, TIL, and as far as we can tell the cell phone recording that people speculate is The General that weren't included in some form as part of the Village Sessions leak. TIL almost doesn't count, as it was an older track Axl apparently previously recorded that was brought back into the fray later on.

The point is, there it is more likely that The General is something from the Village Sessions than it is an entirely new song. For all we know, it could be P.R.L.
