The Current State Of Guns N' Roses: The Venting Thread

Nothing im looking forward to more  than CD2 with mickey/grandma all over the songs.

He isn't recording new vocals so you don't have to worry about that.

I guess you can argue some of the CD era vocals were "clean" without rasp, but nothing we've heard in studio is a self parody like the Mickey live vocals.

It says something when those fake cover songs sound so much like Axl's real live voice he uses today, that you could pass them off as the real thing.

It wouldn't surprise me if he could still go in a studio setting. Compare the AC/DC shows to the same GNR shows from that time frame. While he obviously can't sing like it's 1987, I think he views the crowd as money marks and puts in the least amount of effort required. (not in shape, sings the easiest way possible, etc)

If he has some sort of disease that limits his ability to train, or makes it impossible to drop weight, then that's a reasonable excuse. But the fact that these are tours that people collectively pay 9 figures to attend, and he has the money/access to get trainers, chefs, dieticians, pharmacists, etc, there is no excuse for being out of singing/performing shape other than not respecting the paying customer and thinking your fans are money marks who will pay for the GNR name but are too stupid to have taste or reasonable expectations.

Good post.

His time in Acca Dacca and his singing style was different, as he had to put in the effort as he loves old school AcDc and was probably happy it wasnt his band where he had no need to sound like shit.

There was no way he would have lasted doing a 12month to 2 year tour with those vocals.

If he isnt interested in keeping fit, and sounding the best he possibly can,  pack it up and end the band.

The NITL tour went to long but guess it was hard saying no to the huge $$$$.

Made me wonder if with the money made from NITL, they were going to end the band after the tour, if they were set financially for life.

Theres no reason why they couldnt revamp the setlist with lower range songs and maybe shortening the setlist. Guess its ego.

Sad to see him how he is, as he hasnt aged well and just looks a whale at Seaworld doing the same routine for the paying customer. But good for us for the laughs.

Can Phil still sing?

Yep, Phil can still sing as good as ever. He can see his feet, too. Tracii plays as well as ever but he's yet to develop a gravy shooting addiction. The bass player's a scab but he's not a fucktarded woke 6 foot 3 skeleton, so he's somewhat bearable.

I hope we see them in Aus at some point.

If you want to see LA Guns, see them now. Phil said recently that they're pulling back and only going to do larger venue tours every once in a while. They're doing their last planned club circuits of the UK/US over the next year or so. I hope they're gonna come back and do make up shows for the cancelled Australian tour.

I'm sure they'll tour Australia once more, they always do pretty well down here.

Saw them in Melbourne in 2007 with the Lewis/Riley/Blades/Griffin lineup and they were great.

And make sure to see the LA Guns with Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis. Apparently there's another version of the band with the original drummer touring as LA Guns also.

Last 3 albums, starting at Devil You Know? You've convinced me. Downloading.

I wonder if HS and Absurd were the extra tracks you'd get on an unreleased GNR Best of. So you get an unreleased album every year with two released singles to promote how unreleased the albums are.

Start at The Missing Peace, that was the first Lewis/Guns reunion album. The Renegades one is the Riley led lineup, apparently it's not bad though.

Yep, try The Missing Peace first.

Tales From The Strip is a great album from the old Phil Lewis/Steve Riley lineup (2005) worth checking out.
