Perfect Crime Documentary (5/6/1994) has leaked

Trash. Don’t waste your time watching this. Makes you wish the band had broken up right after the You Could Be Mine music video was released. Axl dressed like such a faggot in this era that anything they release from it remains unwatchable.

Nah fuck that, it's mostly 93 footage and there's some cool shit in there. Dizzy and Slash jamming in a hotel room, to Slash playing the Since I Don't Have You intro live, to Axl recording the vocals was a cool section. Sacramento show where Duff gets hit with the bottle. It's only a promo tape, not the full doc, but still cool to see.

Pity this wasnt released as part of the illusion boxset.
Isnt it interesting no video footage from either the AFD or illusions era has been officially released?
We have never had some sort of official reunion video footage released.
Slash and Muff would have no issue signing off on any official released footage.
What is Axl afraid of?.

Tokyo 92 and eventually Ritz 91 were released lol. I can't blame you for blocking Tokyo out of your memory though..

They have enough recordings that I have to assume their eventual 'vault releases' or whatever after they retire/die/fernado takes over, will be the live stuff.

You mean video footage as in backstage real life type of footage I'm guessing? Don't forget about the making videos vhs tapes they put out in the early 90s. I watched those countless times back then. Pre internet it was all we really had as far as candid videos showing the band being themselves. I think sadly they missed the boat a long time ago to release the archived footage and concerts. Very few people would be interested at this point and it probably wouldn't be worth it anymore to release most of what they have in the vault.

Why do people act like Tokyo is so terrible? I've never understood it.

The band is super tight. One of their best performances musically. Axl is fine. Not his best. But not awful. Its really well shot.

Mix isnt great. And its far from the best show they could have released, but it's not terrible by any means. Imo

It's already been removed from YouTube BTW. I scrolled through it but it didn't seem that interesting.

Im assuming this isn't the full thing? Cuz its not even 40 mins long. And it seems to start near the end of the tour.

It's a promo version, I've read it was sent to MTV, idk what the story is and at this point I don't care, it's just cool to see.

And Tokyo isn't bad, but most of the UYI bootlegs are better. Ritz 91 is a way better release. Tokyo (and Ritz 88) were obviously the most accessible videos so I get the nostalgia but there's plenty of better shows floating around.

Another poster referenced the "Making of Estranged" VHS tape that was released in April 1994 and less than an hour long - this was probably also intended to be a VHS release

It feels like Zeppelin's "Song Remains the Same" movie, but if they had cut 3/4 of it for no reason

I'm guessing GNR realized with all the nudity that they couldn't release the full documentary into theaters without giving it an NC-17 rating - so trying to salvage it into a VHS release was the best they could do

Such a shame - imagine a 3-hour Perfect Crime theatrical release - the movie's soundtrack could have been released simultaneously, and it would have stomped all over Live Era

I know this is an unpopular opinion. But I actually might prefer Tokyo to the Ritz 91 show. Axls voice is bad for 3/4ths of the Ritz show. Like he is warming up for most of it. Then finally lets loose at the end.

Tokyo is more consistent and the band is tighter. But Ritz has better rock n roll energy.

I heard the Buenos Aires 1992 bootleg before I ever heard the Tokyo 92 official release - and my first thoughts when listening to Tokyo were "holy shit his voice is shredded"

Not a bad performance at all in Tokyo, but I never bothered listening to it over the bootlegs

The Paris 1992 pay per view was probably their best overall performance from the UYI era, but the problem was the sound quality on all the bootlegs always sucked

Did that one guy who found the Paris 1992 master VHS on eBay ever share the whole thing? I remember he posted a sample on YouTube, but then went back to hoarding it because of a supposed cease-and-desist.

The high quality version of Paris 92 definitely leaked.

All I see are a bunch of burn outs who were thankfully surpassed by the amazing rap groups and grunge bands from that era. Axl ruined GNR when he alienated Izzy and started adding his 7 layer dip to all the songs. AFD and Lies era GNR will always be the best. Was shocking to see that Dizzy was allowed inside Slash’s hotel room. He must have had some crack to share with Slash. Also funny to see Axl complain about how lonely touring is for him.

I dont think anyone can go past Axls countless faggy costume changes when talking about Tokyo.
THe sound from the band playing live on the Perfect Crime vid sounds better than Tokyo in my oinion.

Have no doubt he loves touring now and probably since 2012 when he no longer has an album to promote, and the band are now just a touring jukebox and have been since 2012.
Now its what sparkly jacket Axl needs to put in his suitcase before a tour.

I always used to think Axl looked like a crackhead on the Tokyo VHS. It's all I had back then so I damn near wore out the tapes but some of the leaks we ended up getting like Saskatoon just blow it away.
