"Including Slash, Springsteen, Brian May, Pete Townshend, David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood, Clapton, Joan Jett, Sheryl Crow, Joan Armatrading, Journey’s Jonathan Cain, Tom Morello, Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, former Squeeze member Paul Carrack, Keith Urban, Steve Cropper, Steve Vai, Vince Gill, Sam Fender, Sonny Landreth, Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor, the Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Albert Lee, Rush’s Alex Lifeson, Steve Lukather, Dave Mason, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Orianthi, Susan Tedeschi and Dereck Trucks and many more."

"Most of the artists on the song play guitar, except for Starr and son Zack Starkey, who play drums and Sting, who plays bass, while Who singer Roger Daltrey plays harmonica. “Local Hero” is due out on March 15."

That's one huge fucking list of names, but how the hell do you put them all on one song! It's going to be an extended version, but still!  :pepelol:

Dire Straits is a cool band. The gypsy probably thinks it's shit.

Dire Straits are awesome. Of course the gypsy wouldn't like them. They didn't write THIS IS LOVE, and they don't have Prince Axel as lead singer best musicianer ever oh my God he's so handsome.

Knopfler could teach Axl, Splosh and all those fags a bunch of things.

-When to retire your big band.

-Refusing huge reunion offers, because you're not a fuckwit who blew his fortune in the first case.

-Going bald gracefully.

-Playing leads which always fit the song - not a display of how much of a "shredder" (LOL) you are, Splosh.

-Being an actual musician who challenges himself and not relying on the same batch of songs from 1987.

-Having an actual EAR for musicianship - never hiring absolute joke "musos" like Frank Ferrer, Dribbly Sharte or Myles Kennedy.

You're not wrong, but the vast majority of Knopfler's solo stuff is dead boring. Few exceptions here and there, but still.

Agreed, most of his solo stuff is shit. But he's not a plastic twat chasing the dollar like our GNR boys.

What's your opinion of the GNR members' solo stuff? Would you prefer to hear Duff "sing" instead of Knopfler? Neither are born vocalists, but seriously, man....

For gnr solo stuff I pretty much love Izzy and Tommy's. Slash his stuff before SMKC was decent but SMKC is boring and generic. Bucket did a ton of stuff I like but also a ton I don't like. Which is to be expected for a guy with 500 albums or so. Duffs believe in me and beautiful disease are okayish. Loaded was pretty forgettable.

I'd rather hear Knopfler than Duff.

Whenever I hear Dire Straits these days it just makes me think of this

I'll never forget my flabbergasted thoughts when I found out it was a real song and not some kind of parody of boomer rock.

"He sticks to his guns

Takes the road as it comes

Takes the shine off his shoes"

Incredible

I have friends of mine who saw DS during their 3 date Sydney sold out shows back in 87 and can vouch for the above.

Opposite of that is Eric Clapton , who a mate of mine saw in 09 Eric came on stage on time, played all his songs, would play the next song straight after the previous song, no solo spots, no " thankyou for coming youve been a great audience" no interaction with the crowd whatsoever. As soon as the last song was played he left the stage immediately , no wave goodbyes, no encores, and house lights went up as soon as last chord was played.

Hes a grouchy cunt.
