Choice- I must admit I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to Stax/Motown and a whole bunch of other stuff like Elvis.

Feel like a cock leaving Macca off, same goes for Lemmy and John Wetton too...but oh well.

Nice pick of Klaus Fluoride- Cesspools In Eden  is monstrous. I've never really been a "punk" guy (Mohawk and safety pin style) but have always loved the DKs and Jello.

Top 10 Chicks I wanted to bang in the 80s

Susanna Hoffs

Adding:

Valerie Bertinelli

Heather Locklear

Susan Dey

And Married With Children's Teri Weigel for the win.

That Stax band was killer!!

Lemmy I threw into the top 10 purely as he was unique. He wasn’t a “great” bass player but his style was totally his own. Macca obviously wrote some great stuff but he was also a very melodic bass player. Klaus was the best of the punk bassists for me, it’s hard pin a style on him, a unique musical sensibility, a lot of clever turns in his playing.

Him and Carol Kaye played on so many classic tunes it’s unbelievable. I got lucky and saw Dunn, Steve Cropper & Jim Keltner back Neil Young in 93.
Nice! I saw Booker T & The MG's in 2009. Fucking legendary! Front row at Melkweg in Amsterdam. I think it was the last gig they did here before Dunn's death. Fucking legends, Cropper too. That guy did SO much.

Great you caught that band before they ended, Donald died in the early 2010s I think and I believe I read Booker T decided to pack it in. if you look at the tunes Cropper played on it’s impressive, but then you look at the songs amongst those that he wrote or co wrote and it’s another thing. Those guys created magic. I’m could see why when they backed Neil, they were very sympathetic players, always serving the music.

At that time I didn't even really understand how important they where. I liked them and all, but I didn't quite know the full extent of it. My dad and I go to a lot of gigs together and he really insisted on seeing these guys. So I went with it. Really fucking glad that I did too!

And yeah, like you said, writing credits on these guys are just insane. Incredibly important to not just a band, but an entire genre (or two) and sound.

Edit: Oh and I think Booker occasionally still does shows and one off's and guest performances, but he doesn't tour anymore.

I fucking hate Jolene, because my sister and gf have both teased me with this song due to my name being kinda similar to it (I share a name with the Mojo cunt).
