The US band Guns N' Roses performed at Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) for the first time and immediately set a record with their performance on Thursday evening . "Guns N' Roses played the longest show in the history of Wacken Open Air," said a festival spokesperson. The show started around 8:35 p.m., and the musicians didn't leave the stage until shortly before midnight. The following day, however, criticism spread on social media.
On Facebook, numerous fans commented on a video on the Wacken Open Air profile announcing "THE show of the evening," the performance by Guns N' Roses. "Can someone please give GNR's sound engineer a shot and let a competent person take over the mixing desk?" one person wrote. Another commented: "Axl's squeaking is really unbearable. If I want Mickey Mouse on stage, I'll go to Disneyland." Also included: "What an embarrassing performance! Axl's voice is thin, he sings off-key and is barely understandable! Absolutely disappointing!"
One person says: "The sheer nerve of what they're delivering." This fan writes: "Just creepy. I was really looking forward to it and fled after 15 minutes. Axl missed the end, where he could have finished with style." And another user sums it up: "The worst headliner in 20 years. By far!"
As "Focus Online" reports, there were several technical problems. There was talk of an annoying hissing noise throughout the entire performance, and Axl Rose reportedly had trouble keeping up with the band vocally and was out of breath early on.
