Is anyone else impressed with Axl’s vocals this year?

He’s not there quite yet, but his voice is getting stronger with every show
According to Duff its the vocal warmups.

"And nowadays, when we go out and play, he starts his vocal warm-ups… He does an hour and a half of pure vocal warm-ups. And then we play three, three and a half hours. But the guy has become a master."

Plus cut the setlist to 2 hours. His vocals cant handle a lot of the songs and playing for 3 to 3.5 hours isnt required anymore.
Fair enough during the initial reunion , but 2 to 2.5 hours is just enough.
But pride and ego always gets in the way.
The most recent Download review was spot on.

I went to a Foo Fighters show recently.
Say what you want about their music, it might be too vanilla for rock music but I have to admit -
Dave Grohl is almost as old as Axl Rose, also plays 3 hours set and he doesn’t sound like Herbert The Pervert, in fact he screams his ass off.
And he doesn’t have the guitarist playing 15 minutes of guitar solo to catch a breath.

People praising Axl for being 60 and playing 3 hours set every night - so fucking what.
He sounds painful from the song number one, 3 hours of that is a torture for your ears.
There is nothing to boast about in this case.

The best concert I've been too was the Foo Fighters over a decade ago.

Dave Grohl was amazing even though he was in the chair due to a broken foot. He engaged with audience throughout the show and he screamed his ass off like you mentioned.

Now Axl Rose in his prime is Freddie Mercury, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley level of vocal talent.

I think the best Axl Rose comparison is Robert Plant. Both had vocals other's could never reach in their prime but lost there voice due to age.

It was my second Foo’s show.
I saw them 2 years ago at the festival when they were touring with Josh Freese.
For me, it was incredible how after Taylor died he could still go on stage and rock the hell out of it.
Before this show I was kind of worried.
Just two years have passed but he had this drama with an affair and a newborn child outside of his marriage and I thought he might not be Dave Grohl we used to know.
Moreover, the attendance at this particular show was incredibly low, half a stadium was empty.
Guess what? The moment he starts screaming you forget about everything.
He’s as great of a frontman as he always has been.

The comparison of Axl and Plant seems logical to me. Although, Plant has aged with much more grace. He doesn’t try to pretend he’s THE Robert Plant we know from Led Zeppelin. He does his things and that’s alright.

Axl’s getting ludicrous. With all his wardrobe changes and “swagger” he tries to bring, it’s all embarrassing when he starts singing.
You’re right he was on par with Freddie or Cornell but now when he sounds so awful, his star doesn’t shine at all.
People go to their show not to see Axl Rose but despite of Axl Rose. Except for some fanatical fans.

Yeah im a big Foo Fighters fan and would definitely see them again not a big fan of their albums the last decade but before that they didn't disappoint.

that was actually, punk as fuck
i want him to be even shittier, i wonder if thats possible
Here you go:

I don’t follow every show but this is the worst show I have ever seen. Maybe by any singer. Listen to Better. Or Atlas. Or Shadow Of Your Love. Or anything as he sounds absolutely horrible on every song here.
It showed up on my YouTube feed when I was stoned af and I couldn’t stop laughing at this shit.

Honestly, it brought back my interest in the band because I couldn’t believe how bad he is now.

What’s funny is that they all claim they don’t rely on printed setlists now and they just play whatever Axl is up to

imagine sounding like this and then him saying “ok, now let’s do Coma”
He’s unhinged
That whole “we don’t have a setlist” thing always makes me laugh. They trot the same songs out for the most part in the same order every show.

I listened to Jungle until i got to the 1.30 part when all i heard was mickey mouse.
Either hes deaf, which i find hard to beleive, although during the 87-93 the band never worse ear plugs so theres bound to be some hearing loss over time.
Or hes well aware how he sounds and hes just trolling the fanbase.
He never sung like this when he sang for ACDC.
Axl is one tier up from Vince Neil territory.
