Woman in Cabin 10 (2025)

Not great Kiera Knightly vehicle with guy pearce. Slick Mystery on a superyatch. 6/10
light entertaining while waiting for Burger King to be delivered.
There must be something good on netflix somewhere.

The Killer (2024)

Remake of John Woo's The Killer.
Horrible idea but so far looks ok.
Enough operatic bullet festival action. But it's set in Paris so they speak in french half the time.
There was no real reason to make it but they did. Preposterous. It's the era of WTF.
7/10

I generally only watch movies that are comedic in nature.

My wife wanted to take me to The Long Walk. I told her no thanks. If I wanted to feel terrified and depressed, I'd go visit an old folks home.

House of Dynamite (2025)
Bigelow lite but as watchable as the end of the world is going to be.

Ballad of a Small Player (2025)
Colin Farrell drinking and gambling in Macau.

I tried watching it last night but got bored and watched Assault on Precinct 13 instead.
It felt like I'd seen it before.

It was like the Annie Jacobsen Nuclear War: A Scenario the TV movie.

The Carpenter one or the 2005 remake?

28 Years Later (2025)
Much worse than expected in many ways. Shoulda better known better.

American Psycho (2000)

Kill Bill Vol 2 (2004)

Carpenter. Jacobsen’s book is more exciting than any Hollywood movie. Even if we don’t start a nuclear war, an accident is statistically inevitable.

We are like Bodhi waiting for the 50 year wave. The Nuke Wave would be the ultimate surfing experience.

The best part of the movie is when president's rally walk on music is In the Air Tonight.

I'm suspicious Jacobsen's Nuke scenario prediction is a Netflix movie. It might just be dilution like the CHAOS doc. The mainstream get a watered down version that is easier to wave away. In the movie it tails off into ambiguity. In the book the world ends in 60 seconds and the fall out is described.

The Long Walk. Shame they didn’t make this one in the 80’s or 90’s with a cast of young stars and future stars. Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son is a good actor, too bad it is in’t a better movie. It is a good story.

Watched If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Could have used a few more laughs but I still enjoyed it. Not one I would recommend to most people though.

I was left very like, "ugh, this whole thing has just been a metaphor hasn't it?" They could have made it more interesting, but I wasn't impressed.

Waves of shit. I kept thinking it was going to get even darker. They don’t make very good movies anymore. Sinners, Weapons, and One Battle After Another are about it for 2025. I think Marty Supreme will be good too, but that doesn’t come out until Christmas.

Went and saw The Shining at the movie theatre IMAX. Was a real treat.
Nice. I'm a huge fan of Kubrick. Would love to see his films on IMAX especially 2001.

Just fyi the extended US cut of The Shining, which is the most common version now, actually is inferior and bloated. The International/European cut has much better pacing and is Kubrick's preferred version.

Recently got around to seeing Doctor Sleep. Saw the director's cut. I'm very impressed. Was far, far better than expected and not only respected Kubrick's iconic original but in a nice cathartic way made it even better. Might be the greatest sequel ever made.

Also recently watched the Criterion remaster of Eyes Wide Shut. They did a good job. Wish Kubrick hadn't died before final cut.

Geez, I've got to strongly disagree RE: the Doctor Sleep film.
Less is more when it comes to the Ghosts and the Overlook Hotel- I felt like they showed them too much and too often.
