The Eternal General - 04/24 - Unpinned but alive; Atlas/Monsters nowhere in sight; Slash 'Orgy of the Damned' next month

I think The General is a jam Brain brought in and probably wasn't a song. But maybe they used it and built a song around it. But they kept the title The General and Brain called it that and Beltrami used that title. But maybe the Village it got called a new song name for clairy or it's just an instrumental and Baz was listening to Riad and thought it was The General.

For the release it felt like Shackler's, ITW, Scraped, Sorry, TIL and Prostitute were new within reason. I don't think they leaked years before or were famous leaks like IRS or Better or were played live.

So Chi Dem Better, SOD, twat, Catcher, IRS were the old GNR songs.

The rest were more like the new GNR sounding stuff.

We are seeing the same split now with HS and Absurd, Perhaps and whatever funky industrial jam Brain did for The General.

Maybe the CD tracklisting should have been

Riad, Chi dem, Better, SOD, IRS, TWAT, Catcher - just to kick everyones ass up front

If you drop HS and Absurd in for SOD and Catcher it's basically going pretty hard

Then start getting weird on side 2

CD was honest though, they had Chi dem Then they showed you Shacklers and Better and then said but we still do Illusions style stuff like SOD. But I think casual fans just get turned off by Shacklers, this isn't Slash, the world is collapsing...

Better is great but the illusion is broken, SOD tries to win them back then ITW starts and they are scissoring all their old GNR shirts in

protest. I'm going to wax my BMW and listen to Zepp until Slash comes back.

And never forget that Geffen Records ,

used Ax's hiding out in Hollywood cuz of the RAPE Charge

for early promotion of the AFD album.

( the  New "Bad Boys" of Rock 🤔)

and the story of "Out Ta Get Me" if I remember correctly.

Heroin Addiction was also aplauded, as was living off exotic dancers, and other loose females,  spending your last few dollars on cheap alcohol , and bands living in small windowless rehearsal studios,

where woman,

and even young girls can be robbed of any cash they have in their purse, and also taken advantage of sexually, N' discarded at will (even naked in middle of the night) with no real repercussions. ....

Rape, Booze, Addiction,,

and just generally taking advantage of any and all females,

is Appetite For Destruction in a Nutshell
You would think shiny pants man would have been metoo'd by now.

Axl doesn't like to release unheard music.

So why release the general instead of Atlas.

Because we've already heard it.

It's state of grace.
Ive always thought this.

Why would Axl release an unheard song as a thankyou as some have said to the fanbase?.

The General will not be The General as we know.

Once SOG is released there is potentially 2 more CD songs left, Fatlas and reworked OMG.

Baz the dumb fuck was probably hearing Rhiad as @wasted just pointed out.

Israel has declared Fatcon 1 on Hamas. The General might be getting delayed by nuclear annihilation and hellfire, boys

Pretty much a guaranteed miss at this point. Sucks.

I wish I could help somehow.  I was only able to attend a show due to the kindness of strangers.

It's a good time though, especially if you haven't seen them in several years.  If we could crowdfund a ticket, would you go?

I'd give Big Chief some money, but only on the condition he didn't waste on a GNR ticket.

But I must say, it was cool reading your post about the show Etwat and bless you for being a real fan.

You deserve better!

I'm no longer laughing at or ruling this out. As I mentioned earlier, I'm starting to wonder if Soul Monster is the cell phone song.

Something doesn't add up.

The General that weren't included in some form as part of the Village Sessions leak.
The full Village Sessions didn't leak. We're actually lucky we got as much as we did.

Yeah and also people held onto Beltrami's descriptions of the songs like lost pages from the Bible yet all he was doing was working with instrumentals. It took a few years for Axl to get around to working on those.

Songs are probably nothing like they were originally. Anyone really believe that 23 year old Me and My Elvis...assumed to be Soul Monster...will sound anything like that if it ever gets released? It's probably not even Soul Monster. Elvis was added to Soul Monster for whatever reason and then dropped for whatever reason.

This whole saga is a shit show top to bottom.

Beltrami was working on songs. As in he had a favorite song. But there were quotes with 4 song titles but he refered to 7 titles. Then 3-4 were on CD.

So theres only a few left. The General, Seven, Leave me alone/Soul Monster, Thyme?

I think Axl condensed it to Soul Monster.

I think it's just what happens when you cover up a conspiracy. And the internet investigates. The first deepfake album will happen.

It all goes back to industry not supporting getting the material out.

But ultimately it's GNR splitting up in such a shambolic way. Maybe they wanted it to be wrestling style though.

But the industry greed was kind of leading them on. Here have 10 mil for the record we won't support unless it will sell 30 mil copies.

Just put it out and let Axl explain and rage. It's a Festivus miracle. Air the grievances.

There's 4 Beltrami songs. Period.

Seven

Thyme

Soul Monster

The General

These were instrumentals that Beltrami was adding orchestration and melodies to in fall 2002.

There were zero vocals/lyrics for any of these songs in 2003 at the earliest...2007 the latest.

Yeah Seven was his favorite and according to the same article that mentioned it, Thyme was never worked on again after those sessions.

In other words, Thyme is another "big gun" hyped for years that's not even a big gun. Just an instrumental with potential.

Only way Thyme was finished is if he went back to it during that brief spell in 2007 he was working on the record. What are the chances of that? :Classic_Troll:

What you're referring to at the end is something that has yet to be properly explained by anyone...Beltrami getting album credits on Buckmaster tracks and of course, This I Love.

Inept liner notes? Frankensteined songs with some of Beltrami's work buried in the CD mix?

The lyrics for Shackler's were written after 2007 too considering the Virginia Tech shooting took place that year and Axl had one of his spergouts about the media bringing Mr. Brownstone into the whole fracas.

Soul Monster is Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul with some touchups.

The General is Billionaire and some touchups.

Don't overthink it. It's Axl. Write a 12 page paper about how your dog ate your homework instead of just nutting up and writing the 3 page paper.

Kinda funny to name your follow-up album after PRL/Thyme in 2001 yet not have actual lyrics/vocals for the song until 2007.

It reinforces the fact we were never getting that album during those years.

Billionaire sucked. God help us all.

Yeah that's a weird one. Why are you saying it got lyrics in 2007 though? It's very possible but curious your reasoning.

Part of me wonders if Thyme is the proto-CD intro or perhaps the intro to PRL. Maybe it was some joke by Axl... like that one's good but it needs a little Thyme.

Billionaire is okay. PRL was just transparent plagiarism that seemed like nothing more than a movie credits intro.

The General = State Of Grace is such a weird theory. I get it, this band is so shit that releasing an unheard song seems out of the realms of possibility, but it's not SOG.

The cell phone recording sounds terrible but there's a couple things that can be heard - the orchestral melodies from the 2006-10 concert intros, and screaming vocals that are nothing like what we heard on SOG.

They're still gonna fuck it up by replacing Bucket with Slash and mixing it poorly, and the song might end up being mediocre, but it's not SOG.

I think that's misleading. They are mostly songs or becoming songs. Tracks if you want.

Soul Monster and The General are songs. Thyme was an instrumental. Seven not sure, Brain was saying it had a suck your balls chorus?

What were the songs on CD ?

SOD,, TWAT, Madagascar, Prostitute, This i Love

There were 7-9 tracks name checked. Only Thyme seems like no evidence of vocals.

So on CD:

SOD

TWAT

Madagascar

Prostitute

This I Love

Now there's

Thyme (instrumental)

The General (vocals)

Seven

Soul Monster (vocals)

So Beltrami was involved in 9 tracks?

I have queries over Thyme being TWAT or Seven being Madagascar but been told no.

So looks like 3 more Beltrami tracks.
