Is anyone else impressed with Axl’s vocals this year?

Good call. I forgot about him. Not really a fan of Van Hagar or Hagar solo, and never bothered listening to Montrose.
Not a big Van Haggar fan either Diamond Dave is the true lead singer of Van Halen.

What about Rob Halford of Judas Priest hows his voice holding up ?

I am not too sure what his voice is like these days. He was pretty good when I saw Priest, but that was probably at least 15 years ago. I guess the guy from Iron Maiden is okay too, but I am not really a big fan of Maiden other than a few songs and of course their album covers. Back when I was a kid I used to love looking at their album covers at the record store.

Yeah Bruce Dickinson came to mind too.

The others im curious about are Mike Patton, Sebastian Bach, Anthony Kedeis.

Dave Grohl still sounds like himself.

Can vouch for Bach as i saw him when he toured Aus late last year.
The dudes pipes are still there, he has a good tight backing band and puts on a good show. Plays the SR hits a few SR deep cuts and a couple of songs off his new and past album.
He puts Axls current vocal ability to shame, and makes the rest of GNR the bloated band they are.
Hes always worth seeing.

Anthony Kiedis was never a great singer but his voice didn’t deteriorate. I saw RhCP live 3 years ago and he was definitely sounding like Anthony Kiedis and he was mostly in tune.
If you really enjoy them, you won’t get disappointed.

Rob Halford still got pipes.

Kiedis is interesting because he didn't know how to sing when they started.

Either someone taught him or they figured it out. His stuff isn't challenging to sing, which might be why he has been able to keep doing it.

It would be almost like if Axl just used the It's So Easy voice his entire career. His voice would probably be fine now.

It’s true but some of his songs are simultaneously easy to sing and easy to butcher. I mean when he sings Under The Bridge or Otherside even slightly out of tune, it sounds like utter shit especially as his voice needs to harmonize with John’s or Josh’s backing vocals. But he actually does better job with staying in tune now than in the past.
His phrasing and tone is very unique too.
His technique might have been nonexistent at the beginning and limited now but no one sounds like him.

I saw Judas Priest in the ealry 2000's with Queensryche as the opener.

Judas Priest was loud and spectacular and Rob Halford sounded great.

I saw RHCP 3 years ago too, it was great. Way better than the GNR show I saw 6 months later lol. 1 Hour 45 Mins, all killer no filler, great choice of deeper cuts, and Anthony's only fuck-up was missing a cue on one of the newer songs. Them and Metallica are the best examples of what legacy bands should be.

Metallicas fanbase are spoiled in terms of the band still touring, releasing new material and their boxsets are so good.
how a band treats their fanbase Metallica have set the standard.
Compared to GNR who throw their fanbase crumbs and make us feel lucky even for that.

I’ve seen some bands live in recent years i.e. GNR, Metallica, Maiden, Ozzy (back in 2018), RHCP, Foo Fighters, NIN, Manson, QOTSA, Judas Priest.
Every frontman I’ve seen did a good or a great job. Except for Axl, he falls short.
People try to compare him to Jovi or Vince Neil but let’s be honest- they suck but they are not as big of an act as GNR is. At least not anymore.
GNR’s time is running out too, Axl’s voice doesn’t hold up neither to fans’ expectations nor to other vocalists.
For some reason every bigger show they play (like Download) goes viral on social media because he sounds like Herbert The Pervert. It’s not a good marketing for the tour.
