Imagine the possibility that Axl was told by his vocal coach to sing like Mickey to preserve his voice and he comes out full rasp for they're final farewell show. Axl comes out for the final show, rips off a Mickey Mouse tee shirt and underneath is a Marlboro tee followed by the best rasp Perfect Crime since 1991. Maybe he can still sound great but is choosing to keep this cash cow going as long as possible. It's possible right? Right???

You can only have the node op so many times, but maybe one song is safe. It would be awesome. Every night you get rasp Perfect Crime. Then goes full helium the rest of the show.
 
He can't sustain notes anymore - even if he started chain-smoking and got the rasp back, he'd just be talk-singing like late-era Frank Sinatra

I tried watching the recent show on YouTube the other day, but the echo on the drums being all fucky and Axl not being able to keep time made me turn it off

We were young and optimistic back then. Axl was only 2 years past his epic 2010 rasp pillaging of Canada and was 50 years old when they recorded the ironic Appetite For Democracy with Pigeon hands on lead guitar.

If you would've told anyone Axl wasn't fat anymore, Slash and Duff are back.

Frank, Ashba, Pitman all gone.

Plus Axl filled in as the lead singer of AC/DC and it was loved by all with zero Mickey just rocks and thunder.

The problem is he's 64 years old and essentially mailed it in after the first year of the reunion.

Yeah, I do think that even if he started taking more care of his voice after 2010 or 2016, he is at the age where it would be getting worse every year anyway. I suppose I don't care that much about the state of his voice anymore because he's not going to record a new album, and when it's all said and done nobody is going to care about how he sounded in his 60s.

We are at the end of Guns N' Roses me amigio. They are not The Rolling Stones or AC/DC. Axl isn't Paul Macartney with drive to put out music.

It's a nostalgia act run by venture capitalists and Brazilians.

But Axls so bad he cant admit his voice has gone and the band can develop a setlist and reduce their onstage playing time to work around his voice limitations. Even a tight 2 to 2.5 hour show full of baritone voice mode with all the hits, some deep cuts, and acoustic material, should be doable.
Thats due to his own ego and pride and he deserves all the ridicule he gets.
The fanbase is probably going to be subjected to endless out of breath versions of Coma till the end.
The fans are more honest about his vocal limitations than Axl himself is.

At least Ashba looks like Slash and Mick Mars had a baby and can stand up during shows which is more than can be said for Duff and Bucket. They were touring a new album and Axl had a mustache which trumps any other attributes the reunion tour has other than Slash writing CD era songs.
 
It really is cope when people say Axl with gnr in 2016 was better than 2011-2014. He was probably more consistent than 2013 and 14, but the best shows from then are better then the best 2016 shows

the Houston proshots on YouTube are Axl's best GNR performances since 2010, but that's only because he was using a vocal coach at the time for the AC/DC gigs

after losing the Azoff lawsuit in 2011, Axl had to reluctantly tour in order to make money and pay off his debt

Prince wrote "slave" on his face and changed his name after his record company called his bluff, Axl got fat and hid behind a dumb hat and sunglasses
 
I still think Philly 2012, probably Hollywood 2012 and a couple 2011 shows (forgot the locations) were better than Houston. Houston is top 5 and they're all interchangeable anyway.

Yeah Philly was more of a "I'm going to pause my moping to put on a good show since I feel bad about the 2002 riot" gesture than a reflection of that entire period

Some of those 2012 proshots/soundboards were fucking atrocious - I remember being hyped for that Ozzy's Boneyard satellite radio broadcast, and his voice was just awful
