The Enshittification of Reddit

Okay, take politics and "the average Redditor" out of the equation. I am talking about the REDDIT PLATFORM. How can they fuck up a social media website that discusses everything? Well they did.

Let's start.

1. Ban third party apps from parsing through Reddit. Only the official app can now. Oh, and it sucks.

2. Ads by companies with Redditisms as titles. "TIL: Our toilet paper can wipe ass! IYKYK!"

3. Reddit Earn. What the fuck? Reddit is a side hustle now?

4. Constantly tweaking the UI.

5. Eliminating unwanted news and subreddits is too difficult

Then there are problems with users themselves. Bunch of old people, people who don't know what the upvote button is for, and people that post politics in subs that have nothing to do with it.

Everything good turns to shit.

The user base is the most disgusting and vile collection of rejects from society I've ever interacted with.  They make Miser look like a polite gentleman.

It's a hive mind.  Most of the posts are seeking validation for every little thing.

"I just bought this....how'd I do?  Did I cook???"

I can't imagine going through life unable to make any decision without the approval of a cabal of retarded strangers.

I agree.

And it's gotten way too big. It seems as though all the 2000s internet boards and websites have all died. The web is beyond comprehension in size, but Google and Reddit somehow made it feel smaller.

There's nowhere to go. I guess I can go to Discord but it's not the same.

Banning 3rd party was pretty stupid. I use browser (old.reddit til death) but if you download revanced manager you can patch the reddit app for no ads.

Literally every single subreddit is somehow overtaken with leftwing political mobs who insist on talking about how dumb everyone else is. Even subreddits that you'd naturally think wouldn't have these kinds of people gravitate to them. Reddit has been unbearable for a long time.

I still go on Reddit because it's the internet now.

I subscribed to the Legend of Zelda subreddit because I quite enjoy the games.

Yikes.

It's a bunch of fat girls cosplaying as Zelda. And they are getting thousands of upvotes.

there isn't a far-out question I can think of, that hasnt been discussed on reddit.

I mostly look it up for collecting tips, only to end up learning nothing new, and in the worst case, find false advice.

I google reddit questions daily, but I never participated in discussion.

I rarely discuss on the internet anyway. I'm living mostly off the grid. Watch dvds. Listen to cd's through a receiver from the 70s. read books and comics. do gardening.

internet is just a resource of information for me. A tool.

My guess is since it's reddit, it's probably a bunch of trans "girls" cosplaying as Zelda as well
